~~*  To brighten and warm - The Rainbow Throw  *~~

OK, if you didn't notice by now - Singing Falls is harboring a couple of rainbow freaks! I realize that the rainbow has taken on a lot of political and social connotations, but really it holds none of that for us. What, then, captures us so with this beautiful specter of life? There is mystery and wonder bound up in this synthesis of Heaven, Earth, Rain and Sunshine splashing across the sky. To us it has become the symbol of hope and a celebration of the bright side of nature. It expresses something so deep in our hearts, it can only gain expression through the windows of the soul and the language of art. Here is a humble attempt to perpetuate a phenomenon that has appeared in our lives on meaningful occasions. It comforts and soothes us when there is no rain or when there is too much rain at Singing Falls.

Another view of the colors of the throw

Here we have a demonstration of the ability of mohair to take and hold fast dyes. It has been famous for this characteristic for centuries and will take natural and commercial dyes readily. This throw is very dense and warm and has a tremendous loft. We have found that throws of this weight and weave the best for all around comfort and warmth. If you suffer from Seasonal Affective Disorder perhaps a throw like this will bring you comfort.

The throw on the 45 inch floor loom

A friend took a picture of a rainbow throw on the loom. We scanned it and include it here. The loom in this image is Alexandra's 45 inch floor loom. A well used and faithful tool.

Herd doe "B-2" being capricious

This image was taken in the heart of Oregon Winter which can be quite dreary for long stretches. We've adapted quite well to the weather here at Singing Falls but we use our mohair throws often on the damp chill nights with great benefit.

Here, attending the rainbow throw, is "B-2". She is a special doe born of a unique Singing Falls genetics bloodline. Her twin sister "B-1" is famous for her striking red-blonde mohair. B-1 has given us an extremely wonderful array of kids during her now, long stay at Singing Falls.

Price: $425 - $575 depending on size and weight
