The extraction of naturally downed trees with their root wads attached is an unusual challenge for a seasoned skidder operator. Much of the wieght of the large trees id focused at the point where the root wad touches the ground creating greater than normal resistance. Under normal circumstances the resistance of load is focused on the rear end of the tree.
